The American Marquetry Society and the Rocky Mountain Marquetry Guild will host a show in August featuring marquetry by artists and craftsmen around the country. The show offers a rare opportunity to see a wide range of 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional marquetry pieces and to learn about the processes and procedures of creating marquetry. Some of the work will be available for sale.
CALL FOR ENTRIES
All members of the American Marquetry Society or the Rocky Mountain Marquetry Guild are encouraged to submit up to 3 marquetry pieces for the show. Click here for the Call for Entries in the AMS magazine, and click here for the pre-registration form, which requests information to help show planners. The form must be submitted to the show Chairman, Dave Kisker, by July 1st.
Instructions for sending marquetry pieces for inclusion in the show can be found in the Summer issue of the AMS magazine or here. All pieces must be received by July 21st.

The show program is still being finalized (updates will be posted here as the program is finalized). Presentations are being planned on the following topics (see the Summer issue of the AMS magazine for more description, or click here):
- Packet cutting using a marquetry "donkey"
- Elements of pattern generation for marquetry
- Applied marquetry
- Veneering and marquetry on curved surfaces
- "My picture is cut, now what?"
- Laser marquetry
- Fragmentation and sliverization
- Artistic aspects of marquetry
In addition to the presentations, a Super Workshop is planned for Sunday, August 13th, at the Longmont maker space, Tinkermill (www.tinkermill.org). Several marquetry and veneering demonstrations, most with hands-on opportunities, will be offered at no cost to AMS members. In addition, a cookout will offer participants the chance to chat with each other and members of Tinkermill. More information can be found here).
HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS FOR OUT-OF-TOWN ATTENDEES
The Hampton Inn located near the show venue at 850 South Main Street in Longmont is offering a special rate from August 10th through 15th ($139 per night for a room with a queen bed or two queen beds, breakfast included).
